When I ran the Catskill Woodland Camp in Phoenicia for 4 years, she was a regular visitor, coming to every performance, rehearsal and event that the children were presenting. I enjoyed heart to heart talks with her over a cup of tea in her kitchen, discussing life, the state of the world and so on. I have visited her many times over the years at her home in the Catskills, and I only ever remember her being witty, savvy, fun-loving, supportive, and always offering sound advice. I remember her sweet, lovin presence at many of my birthday celebrations from childhood to adult. She came to visit me the following year on a tour of The Sound of Music in Massachusetts, driving the distance, renting a hotel room, etc. From that moment on, we had a loving bond and strong connection, almost like family. When I was 12 years old, Pauline played Auntie Em in the STS Production of the Wizard of Oz and I played Dorothy. Since I was 7 years old, Pauline did my hair and make-up in STS shows and a have early memories of singing in the chorus on stage beside her. Pauline was also a founder and charter member of the Shandaken Theatrical Society, where she took on some supporting roles, as well as did make-up and hair styling for decades.
